"Basking Rufescent Tiger Heron"
Costa Rica, Corcovado National Park
Osa Peninsula, Sirena Biological Station
As I was walking in the forest to the beach to catch the sun setting on the ocean, a flash of red caught my eye in the distance. I saw this gorgeous tourist tree (also called gumbolimbo) brilliantly reflecting the light through its peeling fiery red bark. Sitting on the tree was this beautiful Rufescent Tiger Heron (Tigvisoma lineatum), basking in the last few moments of daylight.
