"Canyon de Chelly White House"
Arizona, Canyon de Chelly National Monument, White House
This photo depicts one of my favorite but rarely visited National Parks. Through the canyon walls one can sense the reason why various native peoples have lived in this spiritual place for thousands of years. The area contains ruins of native villages, such as this one, built between 350 and 1300 AD within canyon walls at the bases of sheer red cliffs. Canyon de Chelly still sustains a community of Navajo people today, who are connected to a landscape of historical and spiritual significance.
